Principles

What I try to model my life on.

depth

the man who chases two rabbits catches neither

malcolm gladwell — 10,000 hours in one niche, i joined every club i could my first two years and came out with surface level knowledge and connections. the people who picked their niche came out with mastery. some with research, others a network, and incredible technical depth. i want to pick the one thing i'm actually interested in and go extremely deep on just that.

consistency

the law of accumulation

kobe laid out the whole argument as a schedule. wake up at 3, train 4 to 6. come home, eat breakfast, relax. back at it 9 to 11, again 2 to 4, again 7 to 9. three sessions a day for a year is 600 more than the guy training once. by year five or six it doesn't matter what kind of work they do in the summer — they're never gonna catch up.

belief

law of attraction

having belief in something means you will do anything to get there. all the work is done behind the scenes, the wins stack up. put in your maximum effort even when nothing is to show, eventually success is undeniable.

honesty

you can't grow without accepting your flaws

i'm constantly reflecting. when you can't accept flaws or lapses in judgement, you fail to grow as a person.

inspiration

distill

there is always somebody further along in the exact thing you're working on. they are a case study of the pinnacle of a craft. the only useful question is what they do that you don't. envy breeds excuses, and intimidation generates doubt.
